The work of the quartet Italo-Franco-German Die Hochstapler (The Impostors) is based on the analysis of the relationship between language and communication. Refraining from any use of notation, the rules and strategies developed from poetry, card games, alphabets and other sources of inspiration to form the grammar of hochstapleriano speech. The main source of these concepts was provided by the discovery of the writings of the extraordinary musician and linguist Chicago Alvin P. Buckley. Pioneer of scientific research in the field of probability theory as versatile musician in his Chicago, Buckley retired from music after a meeting with Stockhausen had epiphany, but continued to write down ideas for music games, strategies and structures to use for collective compositions, as well as melodic fragments and brief philosophical aphorisms in his diaries.
The vast majority of the notes found in his diaries (1959-1964) focused on the ways in which musical communication can potentially be organized. Buckley apply mathematical laws to musical configurations and obtained rules and strategies for card games and alphabets. Fifty years after his untimely death due to an accident June 15, 1964, the pioneering ideas of Buckley back to life in the music of Die Hochstapler: four independent voices, free to give suggestions, fake, agree, disagree or ignore in any given moment of the game, in collectively building a rhetoric, full of allusions and references, playful and always changing.

Die Hochstapler they performed at festivals and concert halls throughout Europe, as Cable Nantes Festival, Festival Météo Mulhouse, Jazz d'Or Berlin, Umlaut Festival Berlin, the Cité de la Musique Paris, Hagenfesten Dala-Floda, etc. Their double CD The Braxtornette Project, complimentary non-canonical to the music and philosophy of Anthony Braxton and Ornette Coleman, impacted in part by the addition of Peeping Tom quartet (Dörner-Badaroux- Grip-Gerbal), was published in 2013 by Umlaut Records with critical acclaim.

Not just a workshop for saxophonists, but a musical workshop in which the experiences of each instrumentalist may converge in a common territory, first in the afternoon behind closed doors, finally, in the concert of the participants at the opening of its regular Jam!
