Chick Corea Quintet The music of Miles Davis, Bud Powell, Horace Silver and more
Double exceptional appointment at the Foundation and Emilio Vedova Annabianca with one of the pianists who made the history of modern jazz. On 14 and 15 July in Space Widow it will in fact be the key Chick Corea, the head of the quintet "aces" which gathered on the occasion of his seventy-fifth birthday. Will be with him saxophonist Kenny Garrett, Wallace Roney on trumpet, bassist Christian McBride and drummer Marcus Gilmore. Together they will give the public their homage to the "heroes" of the jazz: Miles Davis, Bud Powell, Horace Silver and many others.
Pianist Chick Corea is that crossed the history of jazz the last half century with surprising Innovative charging and constant intake of unusual stimuli and influences from other languages. One of the greatest pianists in jazz history, but also the classical and modern repertoire, Korea is a composer who knew how to connect jazz and improvisation to the demands of the first European avant-garde. His stylistic development - from electric jazz with Miles Davis groups, free improvisation, composition - reveals a constant search for new technical means and expressive timbre.
The double evening opens a cycle conceived by Mario Messinis for Vedova Foundation chaired by Alfredo Bianchini: the Euroamerica project, with American and European authors precisely the late twentieth century and today. The choice of the theme is linked to the publication, the tenth anniversary of the death of Emilio Vedova, De America, an important volume edited by Germano Celant dedicated to the complex relationship of the artist with the American continent and its culture that has materialized in the great cycle painting entitled, precisely, "De America". Which will start up in the fall (October 28) with Zappazik !, conceived by Giovanni Mancuso presenting a kaleidoscopic repertoire Zappa with Chironomids Outerspace Group, to switch to American Songs. American songs of the '40s and' 50s, revisited by Luca Mosca (29 October). Uri Caine, another of the stars of the international jazz scene, will present on October 30th one of its most significant projects, Urlicht - Primal Light, highly personal review of Mahler pages. November 10, a summary of the European avant-garde of the twentieth century from Debussy to Boulez will be offered by the pianist Letizia Michielon, as opposed to Terry Riley Tread on trail for baritone, percussion and guitar. On November 11, an evening dedicated to George Crumb and Karheinz Stockhausen (Anna Clementi, soprano, and Nicholas Isherwood, baritone).
